the never ending living room

all insulated. got it off craigslist for $100. four bundles that each had a square footage of 320. 1280 sq ft for $100? win.
this is bedroom wall that the living room shares. i insulated it just for noise. when it wasnt there, someone could talk  in the bedroom and i could hear them loud and clear in the living.
almost done getting the wireless compartment finished.
metal box painted flat black to hold the one of the four spots along the chimney wall.
 galvanized conduit painted flat black.
getting ready to get the switch all wired up. fan light, fan blades, and spotlights.
 grissom obviously wanted to help.

mount for the fan. conduit all ready to go. just have to get some rough cut cedar or something to wrap it. more pictures to come.
last spot light of on the gang. ready to make the black pipe spots.

a seriously late update.

So here is kinda a site tour one year after we've been in the house, with a few random pictures.

Grissom and mango decided to help me work on the diesel.
horrible horrible horrible flower bed. thats the reason why im not doing any interior remodels this summer or fall. just all landscaping. plus i want a tan. but honestly i cant ever do it. i just get freckles and burn. son of a buck.
here is where the proposed mud room is going. still hillbilly looking after a year.
scrap pile. gotta pay the bills somehow.
i dont understand the placement of this. why is it facing into the grass? hillbilly. anyways, its coming out. then being put towards my man fund. guns, motorcycles, man stuff.
redneck mailbox. its horrible. thats not even our last name. but the saab  photobombed this one.
you can kinda tell where out property goes out to where the dead corn is half raked. the property flag is out of the picture to the right.
the backyard. where mango tango goes crazy.
here is the back corner of the property. you can kinda see the corner orange flag in the ground.
heres along the back side of the property. outlined in orange flags so the farmer dude wont plant again. soon there will be grass. i love mowing.
just removed the hay bales from the side of the house, now i just gotta remove the 1" rigid insulation.
there she is. all in her glory. i hate that darn satellite dish in the front lawn. but i just dethatched, fertilized, and spread grub killer, so my lawn should be looking amazing here real soon.
here is the cat. Guzzi. Lady guzzi. named after the great moto guzzis. her job is to catch intruding mice, moles, and anything else obnoxious.
Grissom decided he wanted to help me roll the lawn. he fell asleep pretty much right away.
wife and tankers. ready for a daily bike ride. as you can tell he is super excited to ride bikes. motocross here we come.
raleigh m80 fitted with a baby seat. super chunks is ready for the trails.
long day. time for some beauty rest.

here is a few of the kazillion rocks that i dug out of the flower bed. i didnt know where to put them, so i am saving some for a fire pit. all the rest are going on the property corners.
at the property line, you can kinda see what i cleared out. dethatchers are amazing. thanks red rice.
getting everything ready to plant grass in the fall. until then, mowing weeds.
is that a race car? absolutely. its my  newest addition to the car family. '81 vw rabbit diesel. runs like a champ. but only tops out at 67 consistently. got to 76 once. i was haulin.
GTI rims and bumpers thank you very much. the wheels will be painted gunmetal gray, and the racing stripes....destriped.

living room exposed floor joists mayhem

Im kinda doing things backwards. i framed the exterior walls out cause i thought i was going to hang drywall on the ceiling. why dont i step my game up and be a little more classy. so this is what i got.

something super secret goes here. hence the crazy framing.
 plaster ceiling...
 lathe ceiling...
 exposed joist ceiling!
here you can see into the attic.
when i framed, i screwed the single top plate to the floor joists and samiched a little plaster and lathe in between. its fun to take that all out.
heres the burnt section that the chimney made. its custom. custom burnt.

here is the fancy thing i made for wife. she found it off pinterest of course. and  there is my internet and phone lines hanging off it. plaster everywhere.

Griss-dog

these are some of my favorite pictures of the past month of the baby tank chunkers.
