bedroom part uno.

named after the famous 3 three legged cat, uno, this is the start of remodeling the master. phase uno is near complete. frame, run electrical, and insulate. originally, it was two bedrooms with no electrical sockets or closets. now its one big master with a closet and sockets galore. part two: drywall and such is forthcoming.

this is the back wall framed. couldnt tell ya what direction it is facing, north, west.....who knows. i dont have my compass on me.
two of the three windows match in size. this one, stupid architecture fail, does not. so i had to frame the rough openings to match the other two. hopefully we can get replacement windows soon. no more cockroach strength ladybugs.

fancy schmancy closet. i gotta keep my puma collection somewhere!
getting ready to frame out the rest of the stairs here, so drywall will lay flat. no need for extra nonsense tape and mud. and also cant wait to get the chimney fire charred stairs to be covered up. structurally good to go.

holy focus point and shoot camera! made a mount for the ceiling fan. need one of them! no a/c is going to be a pleasant summer.
stupid window again next to the closet. and you can see my charcoal weber! i love that thing. those saab snowflake rims are for sale too.
the wife is afraid of tornados. so i made the closet "tornado proof". as i also like to say in motocross: go big or go home. same applies to corner posts of closets.

epic drain fail.

So one week into living in the house, i start to notice that the toilet has like a crazy bubbling thing going on whenever the washer/ tub/ vanity is draining. water splashes everywhere out of the toilet. first thought the tub wasn't venting right. but the overflow was clear. so the next day after i'm done changing oil in the monster of the grand prix for the sister-in-law, we walked around the back of the house to put my old oil container back.

me- "why is it all wet at the house. why is there toilet paper everywhere?"
sister-in-law- "thats poop!"

epic drail fail.

thanks to nate from church who had a mini excavator to speed up the would be two day hand digging project.
yikes. and thats water from the ground. NOT the drain. still nasty though.
this is the big monster piece we dug out of the elbow in the pipe. again...yikes.
the small access hole on top is where everything was coming out of. blew the stopper off somewhere.
after an always exciting trip to lowes, picked this up to start reattaching junk.
trusty ol cutter. beats a hand saw any day. unless you are a hardcore man. like a lumberjack.
some of the fittings i got to piece it all back together.
wont come off now will ya you son of a buck. i also put a bigger hose clamp vertically around the whole thing to make sure it wont get hairy.
instead of having one 45 degree bend like the original, two 22.5s work better. less harsh on the speeding poop. plus i added a nice access drain to drop some root killer in there.

a final cell phone pic before i start back filling by hand. let the digging begin. and yes, i have a cap for the access drain. didnt know it needed a coupler.
